Rear Eject Material Spreader
PHIL's Material Spreader requires a PHIL Rear Eject Body (available as a package) and offers an effective solution for spreading crushed aggregate, sand, salt or other road conditioning material (up to 2" in size) to cover haul roads minimizing slippery underfoot conditions when ice, snow, or other winter conditions warrant. NOTE: The material used within the PHIL Material Spreader must flow freely without "bridging".
PHIL's unique Material Spreader is comprised of a number of components that work together to create a safe, reliable, self-contained system for hauling and controlling the dispersion of sand or other road conditioning material.
1. Rear Eject Body
Effectively contains material, designed to gently push the material rearward as it is needed for distribution. When the Material Spreader attachment is not in use, the Rear Eject Body can be used for other material haulage requirements within the same facility.
2. Material Spreader Attachment
The attached material spreader works in conjunction with the ejector body to broadcast material through two rotating discs out the back of the body as needed. Speed and flow are driver-controlled from within the cab. A cross-auger within the material spreader attachment works in conjunction with the rear eject blade to rotate, providing optimal material to the spinning discs without overloading them. NOTE: The material spreader attachment can spread material from granular sand up to 2" in size, but the material must be non-cohesive, unpackable material, otherwise the material may be able to compact and "bridge".
3. Grizzly Screen Top
(Optional) A robust steel mesh enclosure covers the bed to allow for material to be dumped into the body, minimizing the ability for larger-sized material from making its way into the Rear Eject Body, thus providing maximum up-time.
4. Automatic Tailgate
(Optional) When the Material Spreader is taken off for storage during the off-season, the Rear Eject Body Tailgate helps cap off the back of the Rear Eject Body. Designed to be integrated into the PHIL Rear Eject Body design, the tailgate automatically lowers and raises based. on the location of the ejector blade mechanically and without the need of any additional hydraulic cylinders. The entire Rear Eject Body uses only one robust three stage, double-acting cylinder.
5. Storage Stand
(Optional) Used in the off-months to hold the Sanding Attachment.
The PHIL Material Spreader System can be designed for almost any standard PHIL Rear Eject Body designed for 40-45 ton articulated haulers. During the off-season, the Material Spreader Attachment and Grizzly Screen can be removed and the ejector body can be used within the operation as an additional piece of support or production equipment, further increasing the cost-effectiveness of this solution. Additional attachments can further enhance the PHIL Rear Eject Body when the Material Spreader Attachment is not in use.
